Join Friends of the Reedy River on Saturday, September 19 for our 2026 Fall River Sweep presented by Grand Bohemian Lodge and Dapper Ink.
Check-in opens at 8:30am and the clean-up will run from 9:00am - 11:00am, and the cleanup will conclude at 11:30am. In the event of inclement weather, the River Sweep will be rescheduled for Saturday, September 26.
We will have a registration cap for each site to ensure we don't put undue pressure on the river or our resources at any one location, so be sure to register before your preferred location fills up.
It's important to keep in mind that our River Sweeps are primarily in the water cleanup events. You should come dressed to get in the water. While there are some opportunities for picking trash along the riverbank and river's edge, the primary need is to get trash out of the Reedy's waters. To do that, volunteers should be ready and able to get in the Reedy, ready to make a difference and keep our river clean.
Minors: All participants, regardless of age, must have all necessary waivers filled and signed. Minors (under 18) must have their waivers signed by a legal. guardian before they can join any FoRR event. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a legal guardian at all times.
Safety: Please be aware that River Sweeps are not pre-screened for hazards like broken glass, sharp objects, or medical waste. While you are not expected to collect these items, you may encounter them. By signing the waivers in this form on your behalf or on behalf of a minor under your care, you acknowledge and accept this risk. Please also remember the inherent potential risks of outdoor activities, such as deep water, snakes, stinging insects, slippery riverbanks, etc., and proceed with caution during all outdoor events.
Please dress appropriately. -Wear clothes that can get wet and dirty, and waders or boots if you have them. Closed toe shoes are required. Bring a towel for after in case you are wet or muddy. FoRR will provide all other necessary items, such as gloves, vests, trash grabbers, trash bags, tools, etc. We will follow up with additional details about what to expect prior to the cleanup.
You will receive a confirmation email with information for your designed check-in location prior to the clean-up during the week of September 14 - 18.
We’ll provide cleanup supplies, simple guidance, and support so you can work safely and effectively. Your registration helps us plan crews, supplies, and river sections. Thank you for lending a hand to care for the Reedy River.
Registration Notes:
- River Sweep T-shirts: Every dollar from your t-shirt purchase goes directly to FoRR to support our vision of creating A Healthy Reedy River Watershed, Valued and Protected by an Engaged Community. Shirts may be picked up at the cleanup location where you registered during check-in on Saturday, September 19. If for some reason you are unable to pick up your shirt at the River Sweep, let us know so we can arrange pickup from FoRR's office during the week following the event. Please note t-shirt purchases are non-refundable.
- Group Registration: To register a group, add a ticket to your order for each participant at your preferred site. Then, list all participants names and indicate if they are over/under the age of 18. For large groups, we will email you the necessary waivers ahead of time in hopes that you may be able to bring printed and signed waivers for each participant to expedite your check-in process.
- Waivers: Paper waivers must be signed by all participants at check-in.
- Afterparty: After the river sweep, volunteers are encouraged to join us at our FoRR River Sweep Afterparty Celebration at Southernside Brewing (25 Delano Drive, Greenville, SC) to celebrate our hard work! Southernside will be conducting a profit share benefit FoRR during the afterparty.
